Its been a while since I was having to do this, and I just cannot remember what is what. A relative has just got a nice large LCD TV and basic DVD.

We have the following options to connect, which is best please?

1) Yellow video cable, red white audio - called Input Jack in the manual - is this S-Video? I guess this is poor quality

2) SCART, but these options
a) S-Video
b) RGB

DVD player has no other options, I guess none of the above are classed as component, as I thought that was the best option.

This is an important bit:
My relative is old and things are just too complex. I would like the connector to tell the TV when the DVD has started playing, so that the TV automatically switches over to the DVD player (no fiddling with different AV modes)

What type should I get please

Scart/Euro connector set to RGB, it automatically 'trips' to the DVD player when switched on.
