My arm's stopped working
Well i went indoor sky diving on Wednesday and since them my arm/shoulder has been in pain. It's been getting worse and now i can't lift it at all, i.e if i'm standing up i can't raise it to hold it out straight or if it's out straight flat on my desk i can't raise it at all. If i do move it it hurts a lot.
I'll be going to see my GP asap but in the meantime does anyone have any idea what may be wrong with it? Rather annoying as can't drive, use a mouse/type properly (so can't work while it's like this) and generally can't do much with it - even opening a lock/turning a key is a no-no
Stupid wind tunnel.

Nat, this is not my speciality but it maybe a rotator cuff injury. Most will settle with physio and regular analgesia/antiinflammatories.
If there is no contraindication for you(read the packet) start taking Ibuprofen 400mgs three times daily now as it will not only help with the pain but will settle down the inflammation.
Good luck. If you have other questions in the week I can always run it past an Orthopaedic consultant buddy at work

Unlike most of the "My 3 year old banged his liddle diddy finger so I blocked up A&E for 2 days" type threads I would have thought this was a genuine A&E type thing? Trouble is you wait to see the GP who just refers you to the same hospital for an x-ray or amputation.
Hope it improves pdq

Thanks guys, might go to A+E tomorrow morning. It wasn't so bad until friday afternoon/evening but has got a lot worse since then. Didn't fancy going to A+E at the weekend and waiting for hours.
Deep, thanks for the advice, i've been on the Ibuprofen and it's a bit less painful now.

So, just got back from hospital. Got a fracture and ligament damage and maybe nerve damage too. Got to go back to Trauma/Orthopaedic clinic to get fracture sorted first in Two weeks then see how the ligaments etc are feeling.
Top marks to N'pton general - was in, seen by Doctor, X-rayed, seen by Doctor again and out again in about 90 minutes

Sounds like you have got a frozen shoulder had this my self it's very painful you need to see a osteopath as it takes a long time to heal they can really help you get the movement back.
