Cable TV (Virgin Media) Picture Quality

Cable TV (Virgin Media) Picture Quality
I've just had the TV & Broadband package put in from Virgin Media.
My previous TV experience was Freeview (which gave a better picture than sky TV at my old house), and after watching the cable TV service from Virgin Media - I have to say the picture quality is totally dissapointing.
Does anyone else have this service - what do you think of the picture quality?
For info the Cable box is pluged directly into the back of my 28" Sony Widescreen TV (not flat screen) using a scart cable (not a type I have seen before - the cable part of it looks much like an IDE cable out of a computer but with scart connections on each end).
Cheers,
Carl.

I've got the TV Drive (or whatever its called now!) connected to my system via HDMI cables and the quality in nearly always outstanding. Some channels broadcast at a pants bit-rate from time to time but generally it's all good.
In the bedroom I have a 32" LCD with the old telewest box and gold-plated scart. Picture quality is poorer but still of a very acceptable standard. On a CRT I'd imagine it would be spot on but there's only so much a cheap 32" LCD can do with a less than perfect signal.

My picture quality seems fine, I have mine connected via a standard scart to a 10 year old Philips Widescreen, and the picture is noticeably better than when i had freeview.

I believe that most of the SD feeds are provided by Sky, so the picture should be simillar to that.
When we had ntl, the freeview picture was better than the same channel on ntl for some of the channels.

I've got it mate, connected via a decent scart cable.
The picture is okay, but IMO, not as good as the Sky picture we used to have.
Some channels are woeful, but again, same can be said for the smaller channels on Sky.
