Fender Stratocaster/Telecaster
I have a Strat copy and want to make a bit different from the norm.
I want to put a Tele neck on my strat body and also have an ashtray bridge with brass saddles.
Was wondering if anyone has attempted anything like this before?
Has anyone the measurements of a tele head cause i'll prob buy a paddlehead neck and cut the shape myself because online shops don't do the spec i would like:
9.5 inch radius fretboard.
ideally 22 frets.
25.5 scale length or maybe 25 if possible.
rosewood figerboard with skunk strip at the back.
Hell yeah
Jon

Real Strats cost too much nowadays? Have no clue of the prices that are going for Basses/Giiiitars at this time. Clue me in?

Loads of spare parts on ebay mate. A new neck should cost about £40.
I thought about doing this myself once. I'm still tempted to buy one of those guitar kits that you put together yourself. Saw them advertised for about £50.

Nice site but not exactly cheap parts are they!
When you say 'strat copy' which one is it? I started off with a Squire and wanted to get a black scratchplate, I contacted quite a few places to try and get one and the replacement parts they had wouldn't fit my guitar (even though the parts andmy guitar were made by Fender!). I ended up selling it to somone my wife works with to get her son into playing. I just stick to my SG now. I love it!

tele necks are only 21 fret IIRC.
If you want something a little unusual keep your eyes open on ebay for a Washburn N1. I managed to pick one up last year for under £80 and it's the best guitar I've ever owned plus it's 22 fret and has a large reverse headstock.

I got a nice Telecaster body from ebay a while back, with the intention of building up my own guitar from sourcing the other bits myself to my spec
Really just to make it different to the 2 strats I own, which have both been modified so they are different to each other
I have an Indie Rickenbacker replica, which is a very nice guitar, and also completly different to the strats, and also slightly modified with ricky toaster pickups and ricky electrics too

Plenty of info here for you

But the base of the tele neck is square whereas the strat is more rounded.
Usually the Strats and Teles MIA are 22 frets the MIM MIJ/CIJ are 21.
I`ve got a Fender Telecaster Jap 62RI which is said to be as good if not better built than MIA.
