Dispatches, Monday 8pm Ch4. Cameron - Toff at the top.
I'll be watching as I've not made my mind up about him.
He talks green but takes 90mile plane flights and the fact that he lies about recycling at home we all know about but the biggest thing for me is his silver spoon past.
Lost of us have worked damn hard to be were we are and I'm not sure of how intouch he actually is. Yes he's put in the hard work to become Tory leader but he's never had to worry about paying the bills or redundancy or pension or mortgage.
I actually prefered Hague to Cameron.
Cheers
Lee

Being concerned about his 'silver spoon past' makes you sound as foolish as pslewis with his petty class jealousy. If you wish to have a working class Conservative party leader then youre confused. Perhaps you should vote BNP?

The program may put my mind at rest but at the moment I think the party could have found a much better leader.

I am not too worried about his background, what does concern me is that he is the real deal, he is honest and does care about the environment for example.
It would be a shame to find out that he is no better than the dishonest, self serving, lying fools we already have in power.

"He talks green but takes 90mile plane flights" - in a light aircraft. Cant see much difference to taking the car to me.
being concerned about "silver spoon past" says more about you than him.
Funny how people will site it as a reason not vote to for Cameron but didnt seem to have an issue voting for Tony ?

I and a few others run our local residents association and neighbourhood watch. Will Cameron really be able to relate to problems at this level?
Hague's background was similar but you always knew where you were with Hague, Cameron just seems a bit to Blairish

As for environment issues, a don't think the Tories will be any better in that respect than labour, as for there members background and ideals I think it will run against there money making grain to make that judgement call. There big business money support don't give them the cash for nothing, well and their knighthoods.
Yes its a hard call, you can vote new Labour or the Tories, there one and the same, they all even support each other on all the issues we think important aka the gulf war and recent medical reform, etc etc.
But you can always rely on the Tories to **** up the interest rate, support the pound to non-logical levels and lose a great deal of our national reserves in the process. Oh, and start PDI or PSI in every new govt build project that the taxpayer will pay over the odds in its 25 year term, though the Tory MP's will be on the boards of companies who gain the contracts.
Yes they have great ideas the Tories its just a pity theirs not a new voice in politics as the Liberals are just that third rate as they will never get power they can make up agendas that will never happen or be tested. I always think them as a national suicidal party, its there geekyness.
I cant allude to BNP being a party of anything, just disgruntled Tories with bad haircuts and half mast trouser legs.
So who is left.

My dilemma
Can't vote for bLIAR, won't vote for Brown, can't stand Camerloon and Ming the Clueless is a surefire NO !
I am a common, working man, and they are about as in touch with me, my feelings and my beliefs as I am in touch with Kylie Minogues poonani. They all spout about the envirnment and no-one I know believes a word of it, instead accepting it as BS justification for stealth taxation. All the while they fly hither and thither, and Camerloon even has the audacity to cycle into London highlighting his green eco stance, all the while followed by his offical Jag and two armed Police escort vehicles They all seem to have overlooked the fact that there are 31m car drivers in this country, and rising, and all but a few 17yo's are voters. How much more can they p!$$ us all off before we react
I really don't want to waste my vote at the next election, but there is no-one comes close to representing my ideals

UK Independence Party - lower taxes, build more prisons, no more 3000 laws / year from people we didnt elect? Oh and school vouchers, increasing tax free allowance to reduce benefit trap, save £15bn / year in EU contributions, *breathes* , no road charging schemes, no "environmental taxes" that are just plane stealth taxes, re - equipping the Armed forces to a level they can actually do the job, encouraging trade with all countries and reduced protectionism, clamping down on political correctness and controlled immigration on a needs basis.
And you say there is no-one to vote for?

I sometimes wonder whether "Dave" would be willing to enter a coalition with NL!
I think the Conservatives made a big mistake when they dumped Hague in the first place, and then elected IDS followed eventually by the turqoise chameleon.
It is true that they are somewhat restricted by the fact that if they quote a sensible course of action in government then NL will poach it for their own and only the name will be changed.
I imagine that we will only know the more real aspects of "Dave's" ideals and policies once the hustings for the next election start.
More to the immediate point is, who will be next NL leader and I somehow don't think that is completely cut and dried at the moment. Whoever it is, I don't give much for our immediate personal gains, the way we are going seems unstoppable without very big changes, and it is a real worry!

it should be noted that this documentary is pitched, narrated and produced by Peter Hitchens a genuine old tory boy (and total dick might I add) who will certainly have his own agenda on how he portrays David Cameron.

Interesting programme.
Echoes much of what I think. Namely, that there is now no mainstream party left to represent any point of view other than that of the centre left with all the disastrous consequences we see and read about on a daily basis.
As Peter Hitchens rightly suggests - A democracy with so little choice of beliefs and principles on offer to vote for is no democracy at all.

What a pathetic soapbox of a programme - did it actually have an objective editor in addition to said glum downbeat serial whinger? Angle grinder tries to sling dirt based on the names of the guy's college/schools/mates/student views . I fliicked over to BBC HD for the China programme - bit more meat in that report and a lot less journalistic gaps to make up! Cr@p TV sorry - and I aint no Tory voter [yet ].

Cameron just strikes me as weak as ditchwater.
It is a very funny time in politics at the moment.Everyone is saying the same thing. What is the difference between the parties?
The big three won't be getting my vote.Anyone who starts agreeing on the discipline in schools front for children might.
