We switched to Talktalk in Jan. They gave us a date and we got switched on the date, which was good judging by the horror stories I'd heard.

It's talktalk2 which gives us free calls and broadband. No BT line rental required so it's £20 a month all up. I'd say it was OK - phone is fine, broadband is a bit wobbly, but that could be the home set up (I've beefed up the ADSL filters which seems to have improved it).

I've used the help line and it was crap. 10p/min got me nowhere in 30 mins. Google and the net were a much better source of help.

They charge 29.99 for a modem thats worth .20 pence. The majority of the connection problems are due to their rubbish software and modem. This then gets people using the 20 pence per minute help line and being on hold for hours at a time. Most if these problems are avoided if you tell them to shove their modem up their ****.

My BB is still wobbly* and while I suspect its TT I can't be sure, and I'm NOT ringing up their help line. I'll just be poorer and angier....

There are some problems with the netgear modem 834 (I've got one and I Googled it), but where the problem lies is anybody's guess. I bought their modem just in case I needed to call them. My BB is just as wobbly with their modem as well.

*wobbly = line drops and I have to restart the computer to get going again. LPB any advice?
