Government to sell ID card data
The Government is planning to offer for sale ID card data to try and offset the increasing cost of the system. For a small fee the Government will provide data to any company asking for it. This could be Banks, Shops, credit card companys or even the local taxi firm. They are already looking to hire a top marketing executive to sell theis programme.

Did you know that they are introducing a second biometric test (as well as the picture) on passports very soon too. Either a retinal scan or a fingerprint....

Are you vaguely surprised? The scheme is going to cost huge amounts of money and Gordon Brown's figures aren't adding up at the moment, so they will need to find ways of offsetting the cost. As an IT security consultant, I have massive concerns about what they are doing. The collection of so much critical (and irreplaceable) data on one system is a recipe for disaster.
