Default Private Sale and Insurance

Well the time has come to move the bus on to it's next owner. Trade in seems to be offering little more than pocket change so maybe a private sale is the way to go.

So my question is, what do you do about private buyers and insurance for test driving? They aren't going to be insured on my insurance and I doubt their own will cover them. How is this normally handled, do you insist they bring a cover note covering them for the test drive or do you just let them drive it and hope they a) don't get caught and b) don't stuff it in to something?

I thought most policies give cover for driving other cars but only 3rd party so if they prang it......

I insist that I accompany any test drive and they have to bring their insurance confirming above. Otherwise they just stay as a passenger. dl

Sounds a reasonable compromise!

as above... most comprehensive policies will insure you to drive something you dont own or have a financial interest in under 3rd party cover only... it's meant to be used only in an emergency
