Glad I swapped back to Vpower recently- seems like Tesco most affected.

I thought the same... last tank was V-Power and car is running fine.

Feel for those that have been affected though, wonder what Tesco will do about it?

They reckon its down to fuel that is imported from europe, V-Power is brewed at Stanlow in Ellesmere Port. So hopefully everything is alright.

Tesco have said they have been testing their fuel and so far have found no abnormalities.

Interestingly the news bulletin that I just watched tended was showing Shell V-Power pumps in the main on their VT segment, although they didn't actually point the finger at it.

SKY news have just done their report showing a BP garage.
So I don't think you can read too much into where the news reports have been filmed.

But from what I've seen so far, it's mainly Tesco.

I'll stick with the V-Power.

I know Supermarket fuel is a few pence cheaper, but you get what you pay for in this life, and I wouldn't put that stuff in my Lawnmower.

each to their own, but ive never had one problem with "the supermarket stuff" compared to v-power/optimax. in fact my cars have generally run better on tesco fuel, ie a better feel and pull, not to mention better mpg.

The BBC expert has just been on...

..."It is all down to the oxygen sensor which as you can see sits on top of the engine"

Well, if it is sitting on top of the engine then I am not surprised it is not working

There did seem to be a point though, some bloke with a V6 Merc had to have both lambda fail at the same time and need replacing.

Why would you use 99 RON in a non turbo sport?

I run my Turbo on 95 RON without a problem.

No I don't see it makes any sense, the manufacturer recommends an octane rating for your car, so why would you choose a much higher octane rating, do you know something about engines that Subaru don't perhaps?

I put £40 worth of Tesco 99 in over the weekend but without any noticible problem should I worry?

No problems yet!

Wink

I've filled up twice in less than 2 weeks (it was thirsty) both times from 2 different tesco's with their 99ron, car is running fine (93wrx).

I'm surprised everyone isn't getting on the band wagon and getting shiny new MAF's ;-)

The MAF is on the clean air side of the engine, so it's impossible for it to become contaminated by fuel.

I know, but everything that goes wrong is the MAF

I wonder if some unscrupulous people would claim for an engine rebuild at the same time?

If this stuff is jiggering the O2 sensor let's hope it's not also burning valves, plugs and allowing det! (like "Formula Shell" did some years ago!)
