Default AV question

I have a HDMI TV and HDMI dvd player (both samsung if that make a differance). The dvd player apparently ramps up normal dvd's into HDMI quality signal for the telly, thus getting a better picture, correct?

So, if I run a video cable from my sky+ box into said dvd player, would the thing then some how 'upgrade' the picture quality to HDMI?

Or am I talking bo11ocks?

Ta, Paul

If I gave you 100 bricks and said build me a house you could do it right But would it be a house I can live in?

Hope that answers your question about upscaling

This may come as a surprise but you're not entirely talking bo11ocks Paul

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is not a signal quality but a digital connection type. It carries a digital video and audio signal.

Your DVD player is upscaling the DVD picture to 'high definition', giving a better picture as you say.

If your DVD player has an input then there is every possibilty that it will upscale the Sky+ signal, many do. Most DVD players don't have input though unless they're recordable.

DVD with an input is rather rare.

What model have you got Paul?

You do get AV Amps that Up-Scale now, that would be the only way other than by using a dedicated scaler, so if you had one of these plug all of you video sources into it then into your screen up-scaled
