I've just started my last night shift!
Well after 5 years working 24 hour shifts, tonight is my last ever night shift for my present employer BT. And on Friday 9th March will be my last shift after 19 years with the company.....eeeeeekkkkkkkkk
Still they are giving me a nice goldern handshake.
So I will be entering the big real world and have to work for a living!
Tonight is a good night........

We do 2 days, 2 nights (7 till 7) to mirror BT's NPfit/data centre shift pattern. Been doing it for 2 years now. Every nightshift I think to myself I can't take this any more. 2 till 5 is the worst bit.
I bet it's a good feeling to be on your last one

I Did my last ever 12 hour night shift last night 7pm -7am, after doing 9 years of them. Didn't realise the negative effects they were having on me mentally and physically until I did a six month stint of 9-5 a couple of years ago. After that it was a dead cert that I was moving on, so much happier and able to concentrate when in a proper natural rhythm.
Start my Mon - Fri 9 - 5 in March, the excitement ranks alongside first ****/saxo 1.6 to impreza tbo/xmas when I was six yrs old.
Will take a really dire set of circumstances or a lot of money to get me back on shifts. The shift allowance was nice, but it didn't make up for it..

Yes, know what you mean. Think I have missed an awful lot of my kids growing up, and they have missed a Dad. Its always I 've got to check the shift rota, can't do next weekend covering, got to do another set of nights to cover leave etc etc etc.
Yes the extra money is nice and the extra time off, but what good is a week off when everyone else is at work!
Still 5 hours to go.....
