Think I heard 40,000 people were being trained up to enforce this. Just wonder what the ongoing cost of all this is?

Council will employ smoking wardens but you'll find it will police itself pretty well.

You'll soon get used to it......

One of the best things to ever happen in Scotland and Ireland IMHO

Had some letters from the franchise owners, telling me the site is a no smoking zone from the 1st july.

I`m all up for it tbh

its a weekly job for somebody to go around and pick up all the "dumpers" and TBH its ****en disgusting.

just reading a few web pages that say, failure to enforce no smoking in a no smoking area is punishable by fine

As a non smoker in Scotland I think its great! I haven`t seen any trouble in pubs etc. with everyone complying to the law.

Exactly Colzo, if Ireland, Scotland and Wales can do it then how come its so hard for England. Had a very boozy night out in Glasgow last weekend with a mate whose a smoker and it was a great night for both of us. He soon got fed up with the cold outside when having a *** and spent more time in the boozer drinking !

best news ever. I am, sick to death of smokers who feel the streets etc are long ashtrays. the smell etc. They come up with silly pathetic excuses but its them who are smoking !! Sad idiots driving along first thing in the morning puffing away like their life depends on it.

It is nice to be able to come home not stinking of smoke.

Here you are, have a read of this. The European Commission is discussing whether, and how, to legislate against smoking (full ban, partial ban, voluntary agreement with industry, etc)

There's a LOT of research and figures in here.
