Default vw beetle warning light

my girlfriend has a new vw beetle and her engine warning light has came on we didnt notice anything wrong with the car when we were driving home. She is now really upset thinking there is a big problem with her car.

The dealer is not open till tomorrow.

Any ideas what it could be lads

Turn the car off for a while then, let the system reset itself. The light should go out. If it then comes back on then there is a problem.

What engine does it have?
VWs were/ are notorious for coilpack failures (covered upto 6 years under warranty), symptoms can be engine light comming on but usually missfire as well.
Last A4 1.8T i had showed the light constant - turned out to be the EGR valve and split pipe, cost around £350 for dealer to sort

My wifes beetle got this a couple of time and it was related to the oil level. The oil warning light did not come on though. I'd check fluid levels.
