Default B&Q Kitchens....DON'T!!!

On 1/1/07 I bought a new kitchen from B&Q

It was all paid for, and everything was due for delivery today.

So far the problems I have had:

1) 5 items of the kitchen missing
2) Cooker hood 'not available'
3) Tiles will be delivered 'some time next week'
4) You dont mind waiting from 8am till 8pm on 3 different days for the above items to be delivered do you sir?......ohh, and we cant quite say when these 3 days will be..

What an utter set of useless muppets.

My advice, if you are looking for good service, DO NOT GO TO B&Q...they are an utter disgrace.

(rant over!)

If you did a little research first youd have seen that they cant always deliver within six months! Most of it there within one month is brilliant for them.....

Missing items part of the service I'm afraid. Getting said missing items a nightmare in itself.

6 weeks after waiting for one of the cupboard doors to turn up a friend casually walked in to B&Q and took one off the display model. I dont condone stealing but could fully appreciate his frustrations.

Had a bad experience once and that was only with a couple of units for a utility room. I had the joiner round to put it in and half the stuff was missing
The laugh is i had to stick him on the phone as they didn't believe me

Oh dear looks like I am not alone.........

Anyone had any luck in getting compenation/goodwill gesture off them, as I do not intend to let their incompetence go without recompense......4 days off work for their inept customer service is appalling.....

Why not do some research first?

EVERYONE knows that you buy NOTHING from MFI or B&Q ... not unless you can take it home there and then!!

If you cdant afford a bespoke kitchen. Buy Ikea. You just drive in and pick up. stock arrives most days and they shut late. stick some good granite etc on top and a nice cooker etc and your a winner. Just seen a expensive =kitchen fitted by "Lipp" from Switzerland. Ikea is far better quality.

Thumbs down

Took them 3 attempts to send everything and 2 failed deliveries for myself.

Had their contractor install the kitchen, one unit fell of the wall.

They do not have a clue what they are doing.

Managed to get £500 compensation from them.

Overall quite pleased with the kitchen now it's in but it was difficult gettting there.

Bought my kitchen from B&Q. Picked everything from stock, was delivered first thing on the Saturday I chose, everything arrived on time, and was humped upstairs by them to my 2nd floor flat. Absolutely no complaints.

I bought a kitchen from B&Q a few years back. Everything arrived as it should have done.
But, the numpty fitter when drilling into the wall to put a socket in, went right through to the other side of it. How did he manage that? A wall is say a few inches thick.
Anyway they admitted liability and compensated me for the damage.
I`ll never buy from them again though.
Funny thing was, the fitter never knew he`d done it. I had to show him

Considering this is one room that is going to get worked pretty hard, I'd not skimp on paying a bit extra for a local company to supply a bespoke design.

After all, his reputation would be questioned if he fukced up.

I bet they are no more than 10% more anyway, and you get more than the 10% extra you spent! I've not regretted it for one second.

This was last August/September. I didn't even have to ask they volunteered to do it when they arrived. I had warned the store before the delivery I lived in a 2nd floor flat. Once everything was upstairs I gave the two lads £20. Had a fridge/freezer delivered from B&Q 4 weeks ago, same deal, on a Saturday, first thing as I asked, humped up the stairs by them once more.

Have you used MFI recently? We ordered some fitted bedroom furniture from them and they were absolutely brilliant.

The stuff arrived on time, and was all there. Even better, when I accidentally damaged a wardrobe door, they sent me a replacement free of charge - even though it was my fault.

So, top notch service from them is my experience.

I bought an off the shelf kitchen from B&Q two years ago.. had to waittill evey thing was in, that was fine as it gave me time to get the kitchen ready, but still have a few 'problems'.. got there in the end.

looks fine... well fine for rented house!

last year bought a MFI kitchen in their sale about this time of year, arrived in march.. everything was there, all fitted together really well and very happy with it. only cost me £572 (not incl oven/hob/extractor)
looks ace IMO.. for a rented flat.

I get the oven hob extractor from WICKS, £329 for the lot and i a fan oven too!!!

the second kitchen...
I'd been to HOWDENS for a price, (I've a trade account there) they priced up for 99.9% the same style kitchen, only differenece was they come pre built up whereas MFI are flat pack. Howdens wanted £1500.. for the same lay out!!!

Fitting kitchens comes down to how much time/effort you put into getting it right.

I agree, I don't want my comment to come across wrongly, I think the kitchens look good quality for a rented property.

I'm guessing the one in your "home" costs a bit more though

TBH.. we're in a new build appartment and it looks a bit better than the MFI one. but not that much... better quality sink. Unit wise not much in it.

when m=we move into our house later this summer we'll look at seeing what HOWDENS have on offer in their sale, they have nice units there but they do great sale prices.. when they have the offers one!
the MFI kitchens can be betterif you spend a little more on the better quality styles.

I fit Kitchens, and use Howdens as well as other bespoke manufactures, Howdens are owned by MFI which owns the Hygiene and schreiber brand names which B&Q also use.
Howdens will beat any MFI quote for the same kitchen to the trade and they are all stock items and made up so can be designed, ordered and fitted in the same week if timing is important.
I am in ESSEX basildon area, pm me anyone who needs any help.
Darren

Before MFI Kitchen[/IMG]

And after MFI and a GOOD fitter. [/IMG]
