Default any doctors ? dhss people ? re: Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction

ok ill ist the basics and any questions asked can be answered

my wife with first child birth experianced Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) which is quite common

but

it never went with her, the doctors think something to do with her falling off a horse many years ago and pushing coxxics or however its spelt, the poor thing even on birth had a nightmare as they couldnt get the injection in the base of her back 6 attempts and 40 mins finally they got it in, the doc thinks that and the fact she sat for 18 hrs with legs in strops aided the illness

so basicly a year after birth she was experiancing bad pains etc, she was on serious medication from the doctor, tramadol 500mg a day!!!!
yes it was that bad, the illness has never gone, she had tried two jobs eventually having to be signed off by the doctor again, she cant sit for too long, gets constant sharp pains etc

the only thing that did seem to help was she saw a chiropractor which did relieve quite well, but £60 a visit and 2- 3 visits a month was cripling financially,

she herself got off the medication all on her own, the doctor wanted to keep dosing her, there just basicly seems no answers and no cures to this problem, for 5 years now her life has been seriously affected, she cant work for obvious reasons, one day it may be better then next awful its just one of them things that only seems to of got worse, genrally each and every day she is in pain but being the strong person she is she puts up with it quite well hides it but suffers a hell of a lot

heres the thing, she is currently on incompacity benifit
firstly shes not a bum on the state, she has allways worked up till pregnancy etc etc so no silly posts pls

she just seems to be stuck in the current position, cant work, even a sit down job is too much as she has to get up and move etc a lot

so what does she do? given the fact shes currently on incompacity benifit shes stuck has no freedom to move ie would loose everything even if tried to work, yes she could prob get a job and suffer for a couple months but the thing is the whole visits to doctor and pain relief thing will start again which escilates and eventually she will get signed off work again

id like to try see if she can be offically registered with this disability and disability allowance as it certainly seems to be going nowere

she did apply for it as was adviced to a couple years ago but they rejected

to a degree she does need help, i lift her in and out the bath, i do hoovering and hanging clothes on the line etc among verious other daily life tasks

as for the treatment or pain relief itself the only way she can be helped is to pay 60 quid every week or so to have it put back in place and the pain is relieved a small amount, thats it!

nothing else she can do theres no official medication, no operations etc shes stuck in this position which is sooooo fooking annoying, shes such a strong girl bless her, she still trys to lift the children when asked even if it hurts like hell, because .... well shes a mum and will never let it affect the children

i think ideally she needs to get on disabilty it will relax her stress a little, basicly every year shes assessed by a dss doctor etc, theres never a doubt in there minds i feel, but its more do do with if she was finally accepted and signed disability she could relax a tad and not worry about financial positions in a year or so.

to be fair even if it was less money she would accept dissability, its not the money or trying to con the state etc shes after relief and acceptance as she knows the pain can never be helped

any sensible advice greatly appreciated

Not too hot on benefits but have you looked at Disability Living Allowance?

Disability Living Allowance : Directgov - Disabled people

You'll a doc to complete some sections of the form AFAIK.

You should have a Welfare Benefits Team in your area.

They can advise you on which benefits your wife can claim, can assist with filling out the forms (they have vast experience of this and know exactly what needs to be put down etc)

They can also assist by representing the claimant at appeal tribunals if needed.

They help assist people with:
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Income Support
I try Social Security first to see if they have the contact name & phone number for your local Welfare Benefits team.

She could probably also apply for a Disabled Parkng badge, if she is deemed eligible.. the Social Services can you give a form for this.
