It is so confusing, so many models, I want a basic player with picture quality as a priority, preferably black rather than silver and multi-region hackable (most are these days). I am not bothered about how good CD play back is. Currently I'm looking at the Samsung DVD511, £119. It got a 4 star review in this months What Hi-Fi where it was priced £189. Can't find the Minato machine they recommended as Tesco no longer stock it.

I've got about £130 budget. Any advice please.

Hi.

I would recommend getting a CYBER HOME, they sell them on www.scan.co.uk, and i have also seen them in WHSMITHS, they are now under 100 quid and are fully multi region too, they are very good for the price, i recently got one for the bedroom as a second player, only wanting to spend about the same as you

Chris,

I've got the Samsung you're talking about. Its a good bit of kit but its silver, picture quality is nice and the sound is good too. Easy to use, simple menu, everything you'd expect of a DVD player really. Bought mine in Feb for 179 quid. Even better is that its hackable by its own remote

Try Richer sounds, they do one for £79.99 that is multi region, don't know how good it is though.
