Sorry, another Paypal newbie Q.
I have had bother with a guy I was buying an item from and he lastnight refunded me via Paypal.
Now I have paid via PP before but never received funds before.
As soon as it hit my PP account I withdrew it and sent ti to my Bank account. I have today received 2 emails from PPstating the following:
Dear paul grant,
Recently, your account balance became negative. To cover your negative balance, we have reversed "Pending" electronic funds transactions that you had initiated from your PayPal account. This is to confirm that the following transaction(s) have been cancelled:
Withdrawal Type: Bank Transfer
Withdrawal Amount: -34.75 GBP
Initiated on: 28 Jan 2007
Cancelled on: 28 Jan 2007
Yours sincerely,
PayPal Finance Department

Then:
Dear paul grant,
One of the benefits of using PayPal is that we make every effort to alert
you to potentially problematic transactions. Our goal is to help you make
sound business decisions.
From time to time, we request additional information about PayPal payments.
This is a security measure meant to protect you from problem transactions.
We would like to learn more about this transaction. Please log in to your
PayPal account and provide some information.
We strongly advise that you do not send the item until our investigation is
complete. If you have already sent the item, please log in and let us know
where you sent it.
We have placed a temporary hold on the funds until the investigation is
complete.
Can anyone explain what they are doing in laymans terms and save me going round in circles on their site?
Any help would be appreciated.
Paul

First one seems like they were unable to take funds out of your bank account via Paypal and have cancelled the pay pal transaction.did you cancel the transaction with your bank when you cancelled your item you were buying/
The second email is seems like a copy of the email sent to the seller

The payment was coming from his account to my PP then was going from my PP to my bank. It looks as if paypal has then takedn it back from my bank and are holding it for some reason.

Yes, it's all rather suspect. His actions up until now have been dodgy to say the least. I think that the fact my aunt works in debt recovery, my sister in law is a solicitor and I managed to get most of his details from an equally digruntled ebay buyer made him rethink his plan.

There are a surprising number of fake PayPal emails from people trying to verify your personal details. Best to check the origin of the email and never reply if you are uncertain about it.
