Copyright question
Being a bit of a rally fan, I have recently been hunting for some good rally DVD's on Ebay, but have noticed that a hell of a lot available for sale are simply items of footage recorded off the telly and burned to DVD by Joe Punter at home.
Surely this is illegal? Infringement of copyright laws maybe? Wouldn't the TV company/production companies have something to say about this?
Where would you stand buying such items?

As above.
You are allowed to make a copy for yourself, i.e. a video/dvd recording. Now I would assume that if someone else made a copy for you it would be okay............ unless then gain from it, such as selling it. I would imagine you'd be okay as the buyer though.
All IMO of course!

i believe its the "intent to supply" ruling on this. ie you record a rally on tv, burn to a disc for your own collection, no problems, same as sky+ing something. but making various copies with the intent to supply without informing the originators, thats mucho bad and you'll end up mr bigs "bitch" in cell block 69
