Question DHL/customs tax

Bought a watch for the US before Christmas and went to pick it up from DHL a good while ago, but i have since recieved a reciept from DHL saying i owe them money for tax and duties.

Surely if this was the case, they should have let me know when picking up the watch and they cannot even let me take it away without paying the charges????

No, it's not uncommon for them to let goods go, and send an invoice, particularly around Christmas, when they are really busy.

Buggers! They were exactly rushed off their feet and the guy spent plenty time on his PC lookin at all the details.

Obviously a muppet.

Thanks Mark.

Lol, tis rather.

It's only £20, but it was the lateness of the bill that i was unsure about. I'll just pay it and remember for the next time.

Got one 2 years ago, 3 months after I had the item delivered. Just ignored it, they never bothered.
