Fancy a good rant at the telly this evening?
Climate Change: Britain Under Threat on BBC 1 @ 8:00pm
That droning old hypocrite Attenborough is back to front the latest New Labour propaganda about how man made climate change is going to threaten our wonderful country.
“They reveal the results of a 'unique experiment' designed to predict the weather we can expect in the 21st century, and they discover how the changing climate will influence where we live and the cars we drive.”
How about “they present a unique pack of lies designed to justify all the green taxes the socialists will introduce under the guise of 'saving the planet' in the next couple of years.”
What a crock of sh*te. And complete misuse of license payers' money.

You would hope that now the BBC has secured the increase in license fee from the government they might back off this politically led bias brainwashing re climate change...
I cant watch it UB, as I am not a retarded sheep... The first person to mention the show in a positive light in work tomorrow will get short shrift

I expect the reason they were given as much as they were was partly to help finance all the propaganda they pump out on New Labour's behalf.

Ah, the classic combination of sinister music coupled with images of cooling towers belching evil 'smoke' into the atmosphere. Which of course is just harmless steam.
It appears that there will soon be a new tax on the area of your gardens that are paved to provide off road parking on the grounds that it prevents water draining back into the water table 'causing' floods and drought.

The truth though is that the climate is changing, what we don't know with any certainty is how much of that is down to what we are doing to our planet and how much is just part of nature's cycle.
The trouble is while the government attempts to utlise further taxation as a method of forcing us to be more 'green' many people will simply attribute the whole climate change issue to no more than a government conspiracy designed to extract yet more money from the populous as can be seen in this very thread.
Oh well, I guess time will tell!

So are you denying climate change is happening and that the planet is warming up? Is that like you denied Top Gear would ever be back?
This winter has been the warmest I can remember, there hasn't been a frost on my car at 6.30 in the morning since November. 2 weeks ago I went out in the car at 9.30 at night and the temperature was 13 degrees. 13 degrees at night in early January! I have crocuses growing in my garden, they don't normally appear for another 2 months. Last summer was the hottest I have experienced working in London, it was simply unbearable being outside of an air conditioned office and was hitting 35 degrees.
Let me guess this is all just a coincidence and the climate isn't warming up? It has nothing to do with new labia, I don't need a bunch of lieing barsteward politicians to tell me its ridiculously warm at night in the middle of winter or that summer is hotter in London than it is in Majorca because I can see it for myself.

All the documentation I've seen has shown a 0.6 increase in temps since met records began.
This year has been a freak year for temps and nothing more than that....although it makes for great TV programs

Think your missing point the OP is trying to make bravo2zero- no one is denying planet is getting warmer-but what i think OP is trying to say is that its part of earths natural cycle to be getting warmer as the sun gets smaller-therefore it would be getting warmer regardless of wether us mere mortals were driving cars about or not-or even existed on this planet full stop. But the political parties are just using a natural phenomen to extract more tax from us under the guise it will stop global warming.

The problem is this changes eco systems and the major issue of the melting ice caps and rising sea levels. I think thats something you should be aware of Paul living in somewhere as low lying as Lincolnshire. Do you own a boat? If not i'd get one if I were you

The problem is that there is no evidence to show it is man made and not part of a natural cycle. The climate is always in constant flux.
The other much bigger problem is that our political masters have siezed on this issue and are exploiting it relentlessly to justify any number of new 'green' taxes wich we must accept and be happy to pay or be branded as 'eco enemies'. It's this kind of cynical manipulation and downright lies that are presented as fact beyond question that I really, really, object to. You know how thick people are. They will just believe it all, especially when presented by the good old kindly faces of the BBC that we all know and trust...

It is a mixture of both man made and natural. Yes the weather systems have gone full circle over millions of years however man made additions are now speeding this process up and possibly making it a lot worse. Deforestation of South America and Indonesia are in my opinion more damaging than the global increase in use of fossil fuels and BMW X5's. More CO2 produced year on year with less trees year on year to deal with it. Not a difficult equation to work out there is no equlibrium.

Just one year of burning peat bogs in Indonesia apparently contributed 40% of all that year's worldwide CO2 emissions...
On the news the other night there was an 'expert' answering viewer's questions. The question was 'what sort of sea level rise would the UK see by the end of the century?'
The answer, according to the British Antarctic survey, was 100 metres. This would apparently cause problems in East Anglia, and could potentially cause problems in places like Portsmouth. 100 metres ? That's half-way up the Spinnaker Tower !
I suspect somebody got the decimal point in the wrong place.

Agreed, so what can we do to put a stop to all these taxes. I for one, won't be able to afford to live here if it continues. There is only so much they can take. Oh and while we are on the subject, where is all of the revenue from the masses of taxes we have now, going
