...and the rats are getting arrested

BBC NEWS | Politics | Honours police arrest Blair aide

Reckon it won't be long before we can get a return to democracy. Or can Teflon Tony survive even this?

Makes his position more untenable,

how long can can it go on before some one in either a legal position or a law poition removes him, for the good of the country?

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to stand on his head and juggle ice-cream.

If he's not going to resign, the least he can do is provide us with some entertainment.

Why can't they go out in style and do something worthwhile like.......

Blowing up Prescott Executing Milliband (with dignity of course). Putting Hewitt in a padded cell for life.

Sorry - it's Friday and I am just sick and effing tired of this govt
Put Hague in charge I say.

It's not just this government that's responsible. The Tories are at it too, and past UK governments have done the same, nothing new at all. They should ban all party donations and make parties publicly funded, at a much lower rate than the funds they receive now too

Why should we have to pay for their election drivel. We are being screwed enough as it is. On their salaries and obscene expenses they can finance themselves as far as I am concerned. In the same way that university students have to pay to get the education for a superior job! (the politicians' reason to charge them)

Its no excuse to say that they are then tempted to use their position to get more cash in such a way. As politicians they should be above that and wanting public funds belies their characters, such as they are!

Would you rather a few rich donors have a corrupting influence on the government?

Publically funded election campaigns eliminate the need for donors and the corruption that follows it. In the great scheme of things it wouldn't cost that much and the honours system would not be used as a tool to reward donors. Is it worth mentioning the union subs to the Labour Party and the influence thay hold? Or maybe the fact that Conservative supporters' subs are used through union donations?

Unless you can come up with a better system of course, I won't hold my breath

They would have to hold a few more Whist drives!

Seriously, if they want to get these obscenely well paid jobs and tax free allowances as well as the subsidised restaurants, bars and privilege etc., then they should be prepared to put it up front themselves.

Anyone using public privilege in order to advance his own or his party's position should be severely dealt with as I hope will be done if necessary over the present affair in the news.

Using that possibilty of nefarious actions as an excuse for public funding is a con by the sort of person who might do that sort of thing and I can see the likelihood of yet another "gravy train" at taxpayers' expense!
