Exclamation Trouble With NHS / Doctors

Not me, but my dad has really bad, red blotches all over his body, about an inch in diameter.

He's been to the doctors, they say he needs test on his them...2 months waiting list

Now I don't want to tempt fate, but he's 60 years old and a heavy smoker, I think having to wait 2 months for something like this is taking the p1ss.

Could anyone offer any advice please ?

Thanks

2 options, wait for your appointment, or go private.

Go private, better to be safe than sorry!

Good luck. TBH, doesn't sound like a smoking related thing, but you never know.

Google it as well.

i worked in the nhs its crap. i know how some and dont get me wrong it is only some try and cut corners. personally i'd go private if its concerning you that much and he's in some sort of discomfort. one thing tho is if you ever feel rough and the dr's at your gp dont do anything go down to a+e ur not waisting there time just gp's are absaloutly hopeless!!

If going private isn't an option, what you need to do to get higher up the list is make an absolute nuisance of yourself. In other words, anytime you think a new blotch has appeared, or has changed shape or any minor reason at all, go to A&E. They will become sick of the sight of him and say "right let gets these tests done"

It works, trust me. The ones who stay where they are on the list are the ones that silently fume about the wait, but do nothing about it.

it's well over £100 just to see a private consultant for these things and that's not including any tests. Some people can't afford a few hundred pounds for a diagnosis

Initial meeting with a private GP is about £40 at one of these walk in centres that they have in most big cities - go and do that to get an initial second opinion and to see what they think. If you need a consultant after that you can check out cost privately or wait if the GP says it's not serious

but I thought he had already seen a GP? unlikely that the 2nd guy is going to say anything unless he has an interest in dermatology
