Make me poor and feel good about it
I was pondering over some of the comments made in NSR recently and decided that nothing is better than action.
One of the charities I work with specialises in investing at a project level in Africa (i.e. not through government agencies with the potential for corruption) with practical results such as digging a lake for fish, building a well, breeding hardy cows for milking, goats, chickens through to building chilli hedges as it stops elephants from trampling crops.
Collectively they have a nominal 'farm' where they work on projects that have direct impact on around 250 people to give them viable and sustainable food as well as the potential to trade to make a small living so they can send their kids to school.
These are not dramatic things, it won't stop wars, but for those with relative peace it will save childrens lives and create a better quality of life for those under the poverty line.
Every year I work to make sure that at least one more 'farm' is built.
What I would like to do is challenge you, Scoobynet reader, to consider donating to this project and my company (I own it, so effectively me) will match your donations up to a maximum of £1,000. A farm costs £2,000.
Send a Cow
Registered Charity number 299717
At present the only way I could receive donations is by Paypal or cheque. If anyone has a better suggestion then please let me know - otherwise that is what I will use.
Each of us makes our contribution in our own ways and I respect that totally so if you would like to debate the merits this then please start another thread if that is OK.
So the more people who contribute, the poorer I get! If only 100 people give a tenner or 200 give a fiver then I am out and we are done
Thank you for your time and consideration

Without charity registration number or details? Just like that?
No offence Rannoch, I take you on your word but I could say I had a charity which helps those families effected by the Tsunami and if you all send me your money by paypal, I'll match it etc...
If this is to be a charity event, I think there is an appropriate forum on SN for it and that much more information should be provided before anyone should give to it...
I got an email from Inbuku Shawaddwaddy who said if I parted with £2500 I would receive 10% of £30,000,000 back within a week. He worked in a bank in Nigeria and knew of a rich engineer whos family and he had been killed in a terrible plane crash. I didnt invest there either...
So.... Much More Info Required and lets have it in the correct forum for such threads please mods

If you would like to donate to the charity directly then please feel free to do so.
Send a Cow - Home

If you would like to donate that way then for me to match it I will need to know how much you have donated.
Thank you in advance.

Regardless of this fact, I think if his intentions were anything but honourable then this thread would have been deleted very quickly indeed and thus it still being here is a clear indication that it's all above board.

One simple thing to do would be to view Rannoch's posts and you'll see he is a well established and respected member of ScoobyNet.

Which is why I'm sure you have contributed, it's certainly why I have.........

Mark,
There are a few charities that I give to, but sadly this is not/will not be one of them. This might sound a tad hypocritical given my previous statement, it's a personal choice to give only to certain charities.

Markus,
Oop's, Sorry, but know where you're coming from.
It's not a charity I would normally look at, purely down to awareness, but ANYTHING to get Rannoch, AKA Trout, AKA David, to spend some of his EASILY earned
Mark.
