broken / bruised ribs - anyone treatment ideas?
I do Karate and seemed to be plagued with either badly bruised or broken ribs.
After a competition I suffered a busted rib on my right hand side, which took just aover 6 months to heal, and picked up another yesterday on the other side! Its the 3rd I've had in 2 yrs
Anyone suffer similar or got any ideas for treatment?
Neil

Don't breathe, laugh or cough and you'll be fine!
Just take ibuprofen to ease any pain and swelling and sit it out.
Should take about three weeks before it's okay.
Cracked mine surfing and kickboxing and it's not a lot of fun.
Oh and tuck your elbows in more when you're blocking - Sounds like kicks are getting under your block!

Problem with 3 is that I enjoy it so dont want to give it up (just yet)
Off to a Sports Injury clinic tomorrow to see if they can help.

DCI - A very dangerous bunch us surf ninjas...
They complement each other quite well - Kickboxing keeps you fit and flexible for surfing and if anyone gives you hassle in the sea, you **** them!
SiPie - I trained with the Bristol Lau Gar club - Any connection?

Trained under Steve Newby from Birmingham (who was 4th degree at the time). Was an honour to meet Master Yau too, he cracked me up when I told him I was scottish and he asked how I was still alive as he heard that we all ate deep fried mars bars up in Scotland.....
Still like to keep my hand in just for exercise sake

Si - No connection then!
Bristol Lau Gar is quite well regarded and we did well (I'm in Cornwall now) in comps all the time.
I trained under Sean Viera, who pretty well known and has been UK, European and World champion on a number of occasions.
Only a smallish bloke but f3ck is he fast!
