Mercury In Blood !
My friend had a blood test that detected mercury in his blood, presume trace amounts.
Do western medicines of any description etc (including malaria treatments) contain mercury ?
What about diet, could that be the source ?

Think some fish bio-accumulate mercury. When you eat the fish so do you. Info here.
Biggest source of mercury is apparently living near a cemetery, when they barbeque people with lots of fillings it gets in the air and you breath it in.
No idea what's a trace and what's a lot though, or what the implications are.

Mercury is in lots of things, but isn't a problem below certain levels. However, the body cannot get rid of it, so it accumulates.
Was your friend told it was a problem, or did they just notice it as showing up as something that was found?

Unless they've had particular exposure to Mercury, then the most likely source is fillings. See this recent thread.

I guess on the positive side, he'll be a really good judge of temperature.

Blood tests for mercury aren't usually done on the NHS - because they are pointless.
The tests give a positive reading for practically everybody, and aren't quantitative.
They're usually done by private companies, who are quite happy to get paid loads of cash for doing a meaningless test- usually because people have read an article about mercury amalgam and have become worried that their headache/general lethargy might be down to mercury toxicity.
Only my opinion of course.

Now that WAS due to the mercury (she had loads of fillings and they had all been replaced at some stage a s well). Some people are not affected by this whilst some are.

The problem is that the blood tests are unhelpful - they come up positive for pretty much everybody, and don't become negative, even after removing the fillings. Seems the medical profession - actually I'll rephrase that and say the medical companies - seem to be able to find loads og things wrong with people that are not actually problems at all. I mean we're now in better health, better fed and have better medical facilities than ever but they still keep finding new reasons to vaccinate us and pump us full of drugs. Not that medical companies would ever exaggerate problems so they make more money or anything ... heaven forbid, that would ever happen ......

No, the guy is quite crook (understatement) and spent a week in hospital due to a bad reaction (understatement) that he had to larium (sp) that he had taken as a precaution against malaria.
He did spend 3-4 months in Tonga and I recon that fish was his staple diet,being a boatie and a spear-fisherman. And as someone says, mercury accumulates in the body, and doesnt disipate.
I recon this is where the mercury comes from, but 'da misses' recons it comes from medicines he may have taken.
I guess lead/arsenic/mercury *compounds* that may have been taken as 'tonics' in the 1800's, but will be totally (ie 100.0%) free from western medicine ??? - is this true ???
I guess that eastern medicine, potentially being ground up body organs (no disrespect meant) may be a potential source, if the animal accumulated mercury through diet.
