Im living in Japan at the moment and Gamecubes's are about 130quid over here...now my question is will these work in the UK. Im not worried about the difference in voltage just will UK games work on a Jap machine?? any ideas??

The short answer is NO, not without some kind of modification.
So far there's a simple mod to get a JAP Gamecube to run a US game and vice-versa.
Bit more complicated to do it with a UK (PAL) game and as there's no PAL Gamecubes around anyway, nobody has a solution.

Well.... there may still be a point in bringing one home, in that most Japanese games are available here for not that much more than the UK version.
Places like Computer Exchange ( http://www.cex.co.uk ) always stock Japanese versions of games.
Not good if you like "epic" games that have lots of text of course ....
Steve.

Also if you bring the jap one home and get it converted to play usa games you can use both usa and jap games and not suffer from the following uk blights :-
1. import consoles have no borders, uk conversion will add black borders round the edge of the screen.
2. import consoles in the past have always maintained the intended speeds, pal versions run slower.
All you need is a step down power converter from somewhere like tandy and your away
(conversion to usa costs about £15 if you fit yourself or its £30 fitted).

The conversion (if you fit it yourself), is the price of a switch......about £1.50. I have done it to my JAP machine to play US games, but UNLESS you are a VERY competant solderer DONT EVEN try it yourself. The solder points are minute and VERY close together (like 2 mm).
By the time the PAL one comes out, there is bound to be a PAL conversion available. If you can get one that cheap I would buy a JAP one and have it converted.

I hope we understood your question letdown.
If you meant however, could you run your JAP machine over here in the UK and play your UK stuff on it - yes you can. All you need is:
1. Step-down transformer to plug it into.
2. A scart cable from GameCube to TV.
3. A TV that can handle 60Hz (most modern ones do, like Sony)
