Does anyone get/read this?

I've not seen it for about 2 years since getting out of the merchant navy, I'm just interested in what the job pages are looking like these days for engineers?

Still stacked full of tankers and cargo boats offering rubbish pay or did they ever step it up to anything 1/2 decent?

Crikey, that's a blast from the past, haven't read that since I left the MN in 1986!

I was a Deck Officer though, didn't realise I'd opted for the wrong department until it was too late!

Money was good back in the 70s/80s, but seems rubbish these days.

The problem is that there are so many foreign officers these days who will do the job for less money - Polish, Indian, Russian etc.

I realised I'd taken the wrong option when I used to be on watch at 3am and the engineers were all safely tucked up in bed, thanks to UMS!
