Anti-smoking adverts pulled...
Some new anti-smoking adverts have been pulled, according to the Beeb: BBC NEWS | Health | Polonium smoke warning ads pulled
Tobacco naturally contains very small amounts of Polonium 210, and the withdrawn ad points out this fact. And why was it withdrawn ? Because it was likely to 'cause concern'.
We wouldn't want an ad designed to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking to cause any concern would we...

It's a bit off really, a guy died due to polonium poisoning and not that many people would know there are traces of polonium in tobacco, they're only saying that now (unless it's a "new recipe"?) because of peoples' awareness due to someone dying. That'll be why it was pulled. Kinda crap tactics if you ask me, as you say, not as if people don't already know the dangers ..

I guess it's a dilemma, they don't want to scare people or look as if they are using the publicity about the poisoning. On the other hand this seems like an ideal opportunity to make people think about the long-term effects, while Polonium is in the public eye.

I heard that the tobacco companies were guilty of adding substances to make people get hooked more easily on tobacco!
If the ads helps people who want to to give up-it can't be a bad thing anyway.
