Default Pay Pal Spoof

Now when it comes to spoof, phishing, $26m just-for-you-in-Nigeria e-mails I am about the most suspicious person on the Internet. They just get binned or sometimes sent to the Spoof team at Paypal or whoever.

However I got one in this morning being a sort of Christmas one from Paypal. Very impressive. No speling misteaks and none of the usual links to update your account but links for other things like Skype (whatever that is?) and sending money as a Christmas gift and a link to help spot spoof e-mails (always smile at that one ). Also had my name - how does a bloke in Manilla know that??

But Paypal confirmed it is a spoof so watch out.

Mail included stuff like

=============

Stuck for a gift idea? Send money!
Dear David Lock,
There's no Christmas rush with PayPal. Send money instantly
to family and friends living within the UK or in one of ### other
countries.
With PayPal, there are no cheques to write and no postage to
pay. And as your money will arrive safely in seconds, there's also no
worries about postal deadlines.
Send Money Home.
Don't forget you can also send money from your mobile.

It's good to talk with Skype

Use Skype to call friends and family for free this Christmas.
You can even smile, wave and show off your presents with free video
calls.
Skype is also offering free UK landline calls for # months
when you buy Skype Credit before the end of December.
Find out more.

=========

So don't throw the yawn at me - it is one of the best I have seen

Skype is genuine and is actually a very good way of keeping in contact with family who are away. My Mrs is away in Eastern Europe and it costs approx 0.001 Euro's a minute to call home with Skype . Beats pi$$ taking mobile phone companies.

Wolfie.

I got this email, and if you click on the links, it takes you to the paypal pages where you can log in etc etc etc

My name is spelt correctly,

How can it be phishing if it takes you to the paypal website, and all links appear genuine ?

Not sure how this can be a spoof email in that sense ?

Spam from Paypal themselves yes, but not spoof

Fair enough but I don't like clicking on links from e-mails that might be dodgy. dl
