I bought a plug-in holder/charger/transmitter the other day for my nano/30gb ipods, it works great but its a nightmare trying to change tracks or select new albums as its positioned to far away from you!

An untethered transmitter/charger is probably the best option as you can mount it nearer your field of view

Yes - Don't buy one. Just get an adaptor for you head unit instead - better sound & full change control on the head unit rather than trying to operate the ipod whilst driving.

I have to be honest and all of them are pretty dodgy quality of sound wise (and I sell the things ) - sound quality is better with a cassette adaptor or something that connects via the aux in socket on the back of the head unit.

Job done, ordered the Griffin Fm transmitter and fair play @ £24.95, a full tenner cheaper the Apple UK store.

Question- I really want a docking station with remote control, but I have found these unusable as you can't see what is happening as you change songs.
Idelly I want a remote control with an LCD display that shows me the info from my Ipod screen, does such thing exist.....?

Pity you don't resell the Bose docking station as I need to buy 2 of those, I also have a couple of Ipods and a few FM transmitters on my christmas shopping list, so get that order out on time and I'll be back

Nice site btw, easy to use, setup account and order, you may not be able to advertise, but I can pass on helpful info to my fellow scoobynetters

iPod Accessories, iPod Nano Accessories, iPod Video Accessories, skins, speakers and chargers » essential MP3 UK

Yes, it's called a head unit adapter

Seriously - It's the *only* decent way of connecting your mp3 player to your car stereo.

Harman Kardon Drive and Play would do that or one of the huge range of alpine or kenwood stereos iirc

Fair enough, I've only spend £25 so I'll see what it;s like and no great loss if its not upto much

The docking station question was aimed more at a home rather than car solution. I do not want to have get up of my fat **** to change songs on my ipod that is sitting at the other end of my living room.

There are units like the Belkin Tunestage or Griffin Bluetrip that will work with the mini.

What they effectivly do is turn your ipod into the remote control and transmit your music via bluetooth to a received that is plugged into your stereo (home hifi) and play through that.

I hope that helps.

Just get the adapter that replaces the CD changer for an iPod connector.

Unless the law has changed, the FM transmitters are illegal in the UK as you have to have a licence to own and operate 1.

Which is why you've never been able to buy the from Apple UK.

It cost me 3 EURO.

Still wouldn't have 1.

I have a Kenwood link as I have Kenwood headunit. I have full control over my ipod via the headunit or remote with no messing about. And Ipod out of the sight of prying eyes.
