Anyone here involved in retail - furniture etc specifically

OK, if I was looking to set up a business where I had my own designs, and wanted to get them made, I know I could go to various places in the Far East etc and have them manufactured there. However, if, for example it was a toy shop, how would I go about getting access to the wholesalers and distributors or even the manufacturers to get access to these products for stock? Likewise, I'd not just do UK wholesalers but one's around the world. Is there a publication, a website etc that outlines all this stuff that I should know about?
