Default Gordon Brown's Scooby tax

I've heard from a colleague today that the new green tax WILL be based on emmisions / mileage so Subaru Impreza STI's will almost certainly be in the top bracket.

Does anyone know how much they are planning for the tax I've heard is much as £1000 for car tax??? Surely there will be a revolution if this happens that's funking ridiculous

Only affects the Scoobs with officially listed carbon emissions. The old classics escape yet again, as thier carbon emissions aren't listed (which is why they are cheaper for road tax too)

phew i'm safe, thank god, but it is becoming stupid, the fact that cows farting add more to global warming than all the cars in the world put together say it all.

perhaps farmers should be taxed for having cows.

unlike the french they get **** all help from the government anyway, so the gov may as kill there lively hood completely

grrrr, makes me mad

sorry rant over

If it does go to £1000, then I'll be either not getting my car taxed, or buying an older car that is exempt from the new tax emission law yet will chuck out more Carbon emissions than a modern day motor.

Well done Labour. Another brilliant idea.

Chances are it will be new cars registered after the law is introduced, this has always been the case.

I hope that's the case - will be a relief if it is.
I was expecting the tax on mine to go up stupidly and then have to sue the government for lost value of the car, because the resale value would dive.

think if they tax cars that much then a hell of alot of people wil start driving with no insurance, or tax, simpl because its cheaper to pay fines than run the car

It is interesting that no one seems that bothered.... an extra £1000 a year is really going to hurt me.

Flucking hippies .

This is really a stealth tax politically they are having a go at Chelsea tractors to get the bill through however the tax will cover loads of other vehicles with poor carbon dioxide emissions.
