just open an account on any of the sites you find and play for fun, then progress to the real tables, play limit till you get the hang of it, if you've still got you money hit no limit tables

I'm interested in this too! Though are there any places that don't require you to register, or download anything? More like a Flash or Java applet?

I play on partypoker mainly, theres a trainer option you can play as well as lots of freeplay tables and tournaments before getting into the money. Even then you can start real small 2/4 cent blinds each hand so you are playing for buttons.

I only got into recently and Im completely hooked, when Im not working Im playing it and when Im not playing it Im watching it on sky (and driving the missus up the wall!)

Have fun

Gary

The downside of playing for fun is that it's not a real environment, and people make decisions and bets that they wouldn't make if they were playing for decent sums of money.

My advice would be to read the online guides, there are dozens, play a few parctice hands and print off the list of hands and their values. Betfair also have a tool that you can click on the two cards you start with and it gives you the percentage chance of winning........ Then start conservatively playing for a quid or two.....

Basically, play a high pair and fold everything else!

The best way to learn is to play and play for real money. I'd suggest you download software for one of the larger sites that has a wide selection of games and low stakes stuff. Play $2-5 Sit n' go tournaments and 1c/2c and other low limit cash games. At around $2 to your £1 even £20 at these ultra low limits will buy you hours upon hours of play where you can learn the trade for real money, albeit at a limit where the play is pretty crazy

search the web and find where your nearest game takes place and go along - many have newbie nights.

if you want to play for fun (ie- for a laugh, i dont mean play for no money...thats not poker) then play for real - sitting in front of a pc is for pros making money of 99% of the suckers online (and you'll be a sucker)

I'm hosting the monthly poker night at my house on the 15th December, there will be two games, the usual $25 buy-in, with re-buys allowed the first hour only, so most people put $50 - $75 in, with a pot of around $1800 and around $1000 to the winner, generally. Then after that, so very late, we have another game where the top eight players through the year play for the side kitty we have collected which is currently $800 to the winner, $400 and $200 2nd and 3rd. So someone could have a good night.

If you can get to Texas, we'll accept your donation!
