Default Chicago - where to stay?

I'm thinking of taking the family to Chicago just before Easter.

Does anyone know of any recommended places to stay? The closer to the centre, the better.

Also, if we decide to stay outside the city centre, how easy is it to get into the centre?

Thanks

I moved to Chicago just over a year ago - if you'd like some info drop me a line. I'd certainly recommend staying downtown, or at the very least close to the CTA system (MetroMapr.com - Chicago) Hotels can be pricey though. My folks came out for a couple of weeks and really enjoyed the sights etc. Might be a little cold before Easter - although its uncharacteristically warm at the moment!

Here are some photos: Picasa Web Albums - Jon

Oh, and I'd definitely recommend a Limo from the airport - Cabs are generally pretty grim, and a Limo is usually only an extra $20 and much much nicer.

That's where we stayed. Although, my bro is in the trade so we only paid about $50 per night for three of us which made it even better

Flights were less than £100 each too The joys of travelling 4 months after the WTC attacks.

The hotel is right on the lake too..
