Ashburton, Devon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ashburton was the first place to elect a candidate of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party to public office. The candidate was Alan Hope, a local publican, who was elected to Ashburton Town Council in 1989. He subsequently became Deputy Mayor and later Mayor of Ashburton.
now there is somthing to be proud of

I'm shocked that anybody can write any old crap on Wikipedia, without reference to anybody! I've just checked my village and deleted some libellous crap about local people. It was obviously written by an illiterate, and deranged, teenager for a laugh. Wikipedia should keep a tighter rein on that sort of stuff
Richard.
PS If I want to be 'outed' I'll do it in my own time

It's supposed to be maintained by users or peers. You have just proven that by editing the content yourself.

I'm so proud of my town:
Elsewhere in Runcorn
The Old Town boasts somewhere in the region of 15 to 20 takeaways in a half mile radius but bizarrely there are no greengrocers.

Earls Barton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Excitement hardly contained
Even a m/sport link!
Sporting link: Earls Barton was the home to one of Britain's greatest stock-car racers and builders, Aubrey Leighton, who won the World Championship in 1957. "Earls Barton Motors" still stands on the Wellingborough Road. Aubrey was a master designer and builder, and even after his retirement at the end of 1964, his car saw success in others' hands.
Aubrey's son Keith went on to international motor sport via Cosworth Racing Engines, and was mechanic for Grand Prix World Champion Ronnie Petersen, as well as in the Indy series in the USA.

You know if Dan Carter had been kicking in the league side New Zealand would have won. I thought the All Blacks would never be as formidable as they were in 1995 with Jonah Lomu but they're looking good. Dan Carter has all the flashy brilliance of previous fly halfs. Sorry for the hijack.
