Come on, say it had gone through, what would have happened, the treasury loose loads of revenue the just claw it back somewhere else, and for what ?
So we can drink and smoke more, I personally like a beer, I don't smoke but havign Beer is optional, its not a right its a luxury and to be honest its cheap enough that if I want I could get bladdered every night, I dont as the money isnt the issue, its my liver and waistline.
As a country we don't really need more opportunities to drink, sometimes my will power is weak and I drink more and more often than I should so what would happen to those with no will power and no concept of health issues whatsoever, the prospect of even cheaper Stella would just put an even bigger burden on the NHS without the revenue to pay for these largely self inflicted problems, I am not perfect, far from it but I can see how in our current culture it would be very bad thing.
I know the 24 hour drink hasnt made any difference and for that we should be thankful, it's not good as some town centres are still no go zones but it has not got much worse than it already had, I think more cheap booze may just have been the straw that bloke the camels back.
