Well, someone might find it fun, I'm finding it frustrating
My little dev network, which is on a really tight budget (
), consists of an SQL server & an Exchange/IIS/PDC/DNS server, based on 2 PCs (see I said the budget was tight
).
Well, just as I'd carefully put it all together, carefully applying service packs, hotfixs & updates, and got it all working nicely & setup so that users could start to use and I could WFH (or MacDonalds
) remotely etc etc when...
it turns out the DNS is fubared
So my afternoon fun is to trash & re-install everything from scratch
Bah! Humbug!

Its good practice for Puff

DNS is fubared isn't quite the whole story... it was one of a couple of probs..
PS if anyone can tell me for future reference how to fix the fault of the within the dns you have no root hints and the forwarders are greyed out then tell me... I have sen it happen on a couple of w2000 servers and the only fix is to reinstall. uninstalling and reinstalling dns doesn't fix it...
Anyhow we are almost there with puffs servers just got a wee exchange prob which I will look at tonight for you puff...

I think the Exchange is OK now - works hunky dory

Sent you a long email at about midnight last night...
