Looking for a touch screen (lcd) desk based remote.
Something that can sit on my desk and i can control....
TV
NTL box
Amp
DVD player
CD player
Must look good and be simple to use (hopefully). I'd love something that sits at an angle so i can operate it without picking it up.

eBay.co.uk: Philips Pronto RU940 Remote Control & Docking Station (item 290050228000 end time 18-Nov-06 10:42:53 GMT)
You can get a Pronto 940 for around £80 on Ebay, are they well made. From the pic they look a bit "cheap".

Great bit of kit - well worth it if you can get use to the lack of tactile feel you get with a touchscreen.
By far the best learning remote I've ever used, plus you can set up macros - i.e. one i've built turns on the projector, dims the lights, fires up the xbox and switches the amp on and selects the correct input - all from one button push.

I use SOny AV3100's and love them. Tried a Pronto and it was a bit too much of a faff for me.
Be careful, some NTL boxes use IRDA instead of Infra Red - if it's one of those, then most learning remotes won't work with it.

NeilT. When its described as able to be customised how far can you go. Say for example could you have the opening screen with an icon for dvd-tv-cd-amp-ntlbox and then volume and on/off. If you want to change tv channel you then touch the tv icon and it brings up a second page with channels 1-40. Can you do this as well as alter icon size etc, etc.
