Fair play to the cloggers, and lets hope the same law is introduced here very soon
The Dutch have always welcomed people from other cultures, but its clear that members of 'that' religion have started taking liberties, and have taken advantage of the Dutch peoples tolerance, to let their own intolerant views and practices take hold, and its clearly damaging the country.
This move can only be a good thing for native cloggers and all those immigrants living there who have embraced the Dutch culture.

In this country, you can be refused entry to a public place for wearing a hooded top, harrassed by police for covering your face with a footy scarf, but muslim women can cover up completely, when and where they like
Don't ANYONE hold your breath for PC Lying Labour to do owt about it

I don't see the problem with this at all. Our Western societies are based on communication that involves the face, not to mention the security aspects of this.
It is also illegal in many Arabic countries too, so pretty hard for them to say it's racial or they are being victimised.

Funny, some countries ban wearing too little clothing, whilst other are banning wearing too much clothing
I think they should be banned in public buildings, especially schools and other academic establishments, hospitals, courts and goverment buildings, airports etc.

I can't believe that there is such support to ban the burqa. It's dangerous for a state to start telling it's citizens what they can or cannot wear. What next? Will they be decreeing what colour you should dye your hair , what job you should do and where you should go on holidays? If I wanted to walk around dressed in a burqa, a balarina's tutu or in a bloody banana costume, I cannot see what business it is of the state.
To propose legislation outlawing what just a "few dozen women" in the whole of the Netherlands decide to wear is loopy and likely to backfire horribly.

There is a general election in Holland next week. This is simply a bit of electioneering from the ruling coalition (CDA / VVD). The immigration minister, Rita Verdonk (VVD) has announced that she will prepare a bill stating what is to be banned. Consensus previously was that it wasn't legally feasible, but now all of a sudden it is possible and just before an election.
They'd get my vote all the same! (if I had one)

I think they have got round the legality of the ban by extending it to any form of dress which covers the face in public, including dark visors on crash hats.

'sfunny. I remember the days when NSR was up in arms about banning smoking, banning hoodies, banning food additives, banning foxhunting, banning everything else, and ranting this was all part of the overbearing nanny state, why can't people decide for themselves.
Of course, when it's applied to 50 completely harmless people out of a population of 15 million, they're all for it.
Wonder why?
