Depends if you have access to HD feeds or not. If not, then no.

To watch HD broadcasts, play HD consoles, and soon (once they get cheaper) to watch HD-DVD or Blu-Ray movies.

Other than that can't see much point to it

Ditto that, probably one of the cheapest ways to watch HD DVD's to once the player comes out.

I have Sky HD and you get about 12 channels I think. I have the full sky package and Sky+ multiroom aswell and it all comes to about £60 per month.

I mainly watch Sky HD for Planet Earth and the footy and is it a stunning picture, well worth it. The HD also sends a better (1080) signal through so all channels look better through the HD box.

i thought it was 780i

I thought only PS3 and blueray would be the ones with 1080i/p compatability at the moment.

There is a 1080p 65in Viera in Prague Airport - it is FANTASTIC.

All I would need is Joey's chair from Friends and I would be sorted

Year 1 = £1020

Year 2 = £720

Year 3 = £720

Year 4 it will be all old hat ... please start again at Year 1 ... yes, I know you have just spent £2460 - but, tough luck!! Start again with a new box ...

What makes me giggle is the thought of the HD demonstrations on normal Sky? What the f***? It'll look just like normal TV because........ it's on normal TV.

Ok, a little dissapointed here!! I got TV Drive installed today and initally it was running via the RBG Scart as per the old Telewest box. The picture on the SD channels was pretty good (as it has been for a few weeks since I got the TV). I nipped out to buy a 24k gold HDMI lead and have connected it up and switched the TV Drive output to HDMI @ 720 (normal, not wide). The HD content is great but SD is pretty p*ss poor. There are loads of jaggies, noise and blockiness. I thought HDMI was the best possible connection so why is my picture so poor on SD. There is even some noise visible on HD but nowhere near as bad. Where have I gone wrong?

Hmmm, quality seems to vary a lot from channel to channel but in the main they seem to be pretty good. BB1 was utter p*sh during Eastenders and around that time. I've also perhaps been asking too much from the set up as my complaints were from sitting about 2 feet away from a 32" LCD to set it up. When I sit on the sofa 6 feet away I can't see any of the issues I was describing and the quality on some channels is outstanding. Existence is playing on Sci-Fi at the moment and from the correct viewing position you'd swear its almost HD
