How the hell long does this cold/virus last???
Started two weeks ago on this coming monday, with a tingly throat, My missus then came down with it the next day, my body fought it off and I thought I'd been very lucky, then on the Thurs / Fri I got it full blown.
Thought I was getting better this week then the throat went again, now feels more like a virus, hot breath, snotty but not totally bunged up, not a sore throat but hot and no tastebuds, headache / mild aches. Generally just feeling run down.
Seems to be doing the rounds in London, lots of people off with it. My friends housemate apparently had it for 3 weeks!
I have two *major* major presentations to give on Tuesday I haven't even prepared for yet either, one of which is the final judgement of the UK entrepreneur of the year where I have to give a 5 minute talk.
Anyone else had it? Any tips? Just been drinking lots of water, eating healthily and drinking lemsip.

Once a cold get's into our house, it passes from person to person and eventually back to the person who brought it in A nightmare. We take Echinacea, it's herbal and trust me we have not had a cold for well over a year now. Builds up the immune system and it seems to work. Give it a go

Annoying this is the missus came down with it quickly but then shook it off quickly too. I fought it off initially and now I'm suffering.

Theres a brand new pack on the shelf in the toilet. I won't take it out of principal, I've told the other half a million times it doesn't work.

No because if it does clear up in the next few days naturally, she'll say it was the Echinacea

PS: best way to not get cold. Eat healthily, plenty of exercise and sleep and don't work in an air-conditioned office. When I was despatch riding a few winters ago through ice, snow, rain, wind, etc etc I didn't get one cold.

The common cold has at least two hundred strains! You only become immune to each strain after becoming infected by it. The older you get the more strains you will have contracted and thus become immune to. However there will always be one strain that will catch you out and at the most inopportune of times too!

The body will fight off the infection of it's own accord. The worse you feel the harder it's fighting. It is usually advisable to let the body fight the infection without any external drugs, the immune system is fully capable of it and needs to be left to do it's thing. Natural and herbal remedies will help as they bolster the immune system, drugs like antibiotics should be avoided except in severe circumstances. The reason for this is because they lose their effect on the body through prolonged use. Basically the advice is grin and bear it!

Let your bodys immune system fight it. The off the shelf remedies so to speak just relieve the symptoms temporarily IMO. Its just one of these nasty infections we are all prone to get at this time of year, doesn`t help with the prolonged summer we have just endured.
So, I suggest as afore, eat plenty of veg, take exercise and look after yourself It will help I`m sure

mine turned nasty - diagnosed with pneumonia last week, never ever ever ever felt so bad, vomiting, massive temperatures, long periods of sweats, lack of breath, literally thought I was on my way out......thankfully anti-bio's starting to kick in so starting to feel a little better now. Just drained of energy and lost almost a stone in weight
Spent friday at the hospital for further tests, which confirmed pneumonia.
