Default Bliar and capital punishment

So, Blair opposes capital punishment.
...and yet, welcomes the verdict on Saddam.

Hmm....

I wonder if you know the difference between the verdict and the sentence?

Funny

But probably more relevent to consider the difference between the sentence and the likelihood of the sentence being carried out or delayed for so long that he dies in prison... Think of poor old Rudolph Hess in Spandau Prison and you'll get the idea...

Sorry to have a pop, and god forbid I ever stick up for Bliar, but you can support the verdict and oppose the sentence.

I personally have reservations about the death sentence in this case. Not because I doubt his guilt or think he doesn't deserve it, but I can't help having this nagging doubt about him being made a martyr. I think I would personally like to see him rot in prison for the rest of his life(like Hess, who was pretty much forgotten about), mind you the chance of seeing Saddam dangling off a rope does appeal.....

Osama bin Laden will never come to trial. If he's still alive now the best he can hope for is a quick bullet and an anonymous hole in the ground - what better than for him to simply vanish forever? Then the rumour can go around that he's been turned by Mossad, died of the pox or is organising the next wave, depending on what's politically expedient at the time...

I read that if the appeal fails (up to 6months) then the sentence has to be carried out within 30 days?!

Blair darent say whay he thinks, as he,s a puppet to the polls.

if he says hang him, he,ll be seen as supporting the pro death brigade and other factions who believe in an eye fro an eye. If he says let him live, the other side accuse him of being a bleedingheart liberal.

its funny he,s become the victim of his own indisiciveness(sp)

now if it was someone with *****, she,d have said he deserves to hang

personally whats the point of an appeal??? and trying to try him for other atrocities.

if he did the first what difference if he did or didnt do the others. If he,s dead it a moot point!!

nice to see the buck stopping where it should!!!

Its a shame some other so called leaders dont follow the same example!!!

(I see teflon has got his big hitter trying to swing the trouble he,s in away)
(any bets on no charges for the top man !!! despite the trail running to his door)

anyway saddam should have hung the day after the verdict, keeping him alive only keeps the media hype going. Look at Hess, you always had some news snippet about him being in Spandau? yet had he been hung like the rest it would have been game over as far as the press was concerned.
