Unhappy The Company I Work for has gone Mad!!!!!!!

I work for Royal Mail as a postman, yesterday one of my managers came into my office and started to take down some drawings that a 5 year old boy had done for me telling me that it was offensive, So I told him to F**k Off and leave my drawings alone, well today i confronted the office manager and asked what the hell was going on, His answer someone maybe offended by the drawings, I told him to get a life, I said it's not as if it's naked women or something, they are pictures of me done by a 5 year old, what is this world coming too for F**k's sake
Cheers
Colin

It's definitely offensive to Jews, Arabs and other races with large beaks.

I worked at the Royal Mail site in Langley (HWDC). There were signs on the showers reminding the staff that the showers were not toilets. Eventually they had to be locked because the staff transgressing couldn't read english (and/or didn't know the difference). The actual toilets had signs telling staff, amongst other things, not to stand on the seats when having a dump.

There were also signs around the smoking area, in multiple languages, saying spitting was prohibited.

Seems that the Royal Mail has got it's priorities wrong when staff can't use toilets properly, yet remove harmless pictures drawn by children.

[Flame suit ON]

TBH I hate when staff start sticking up 'pictures' painted by their kids! it makes the place look like a feckin nursery rather than an office!

There's a time and a place for everything... and if people are so desperate to adorn the walls with pictures painted by their kids, then wait till you get home and paste them all over your own living room.....

It's the WORKPLACE not a free gallary to display the artistic talent of feckin 5 year olds!

And no, I don't work for the Royal Mail

People should be able to put what they want up. W**king for most companies is tedious enough, if a few trinkets from home help them get through the day then fine.

Why should they though? it's work........ and if they can't handle a whole day without looking at a 5 year olds hand painting then they'd be better off staying at home in the first place....

Put a small picture in your wallet, on your mobile phone or (at worst) on your desk... but don't make the rest of us have to suffer by looking at your kids hand paintings all day....

it's not our fault you have kids

Don't know about that .

Clearly there has to be some rules about what people can hang on the company walls.

If you need rules then the best rule is to ban it - saves all the arguments about what is not "Offensive".

however - pictures that offend big nosed jews are fine

Dad,

Tell your management that you are offended by them taking down the pictures! Indeed, they are confiscating your property as the pictures are of you and were given to you so this constitutes theft. I too reckon the Daily Mail would pay handsomely for this story!

If you spoke to your manager like that, I would watch out for some disciplinary action.
If they get funny about a picture they will go to town on you if that how you spoke to him

(not that i agree with taking down the picture)

Come on, you don't need 'rules' for everything. It's not school.

I don't agree with that either. Because we need speed limit rules in residential areas we should ban cars?

What a pile of boll*cks. Especially DCI's retort. I cant believe people can find such things offensive. No one is making you look at pictures on someones desk. Next you will be telling me that people cant have a pic of a nice beach up because Joe Bloggs doesnt like it as it reminds him he couldnt afford a holiday this year.

One of the reasons this generation is going to pieces - people just have to moan about anything and everything.

Someone at my place got reported to HR because they had a women in a bikini on their t-shirt (typical surfwear) and someone found it offensive (dress down day on a friday).

In my last work the typists had pics of "sexy firemen" on their wall.

When one of the lads put up similar pics of a lass he was told to take them down as the girls may be offended !

So If I put up my favourite gay sex poster you wouldn't have a problem then .

And if someone broke the speed limit in a residential area I would ban them from 2 weeks for the first offence and a year for the second. Rather than taxing them £30 hoping they'll learn their lesson and not kill that child next time !

Do you really need a 'rule' to know that's unacceptable? Do you need a rule to tell you not to sit at your desk jacking off?

Pete,

It depends if dad works in an open plan office or if he has an office of his own. IMHO of course
