a628/a616 woodhead pass
i went to sheffield on sunday and over the top of the woodhead pass near the fliuch there is some little wooden fencesd either side of the road, but their not conitinuous and just stop and start after a few yards , anyone know what they were used for.

the winter's get a little wild up here,and the snow drift's like you have never known.none of this problem they had down south last year where an inch of snow caused mayhem with all the children stuck in school and people sleeping in there cars overnight
i regularly travel the woodhead or snake pass either in the scoob or my vauxhall combo work van,only once have i had to reverse up the hill in the combo,It goes great backwards
The fence's also stop sheep "tumbleweeding" onto the carrageway when there are high winds!

An inch? There was a pinicking report on breakfast time television showing show ploughs going out and there was little more than a frost!
That said, Ive been caught behind snow ploughs on the A628 when theres only been a few mms of slush.....
