Default This will be nice on Xmas day.

Just found a bottle of this tucked away in the garage. My father gave it to me years ago as he was given a case of it. Going to save it for after lunch on christmas day. Thought we'd drank the last bottle of it a few years back so quite pleased I found this..

L u s a W i n e s - Vinho 'Ferreira Vintage 1960*(1960)*'

Do broaden your horizons girl

About 3 or 4 days before the gig, get yourself a nice Rouy and leave it sitting in the kitchen. It should smell strong by the time you get around to opening it but get a nice baguette and smother it with a lump of smelly Rouy and then let your taste buds explode when you wash it down with a nice red wine. Port will also suffice. Heaven.

Only works out about £75/80 per glass assuming 3 glasses to the bottle.
Enjoy

Should be OK. The others we have drunk over the past or so years have all been fine.

Should be good. I have got bottles of Sloe Gin going back 10 years. It just gets better with age.

Cheese wise, invest in some Reblochon, fantastic stuff, like a decent Brie in texture but with a lot more flavour, also try some Raclette, this needs cooking and requires a special Raclette machine (a little table top grill with a stone for cooking meat, about 30 quid), you put a piece of cheese in the little dish, and the heating element melts and then browns it, you then tip it over new potatos, pickles and cold meats, wonderful but probably not ideal with such a valuable wine.

Dont rule out Cheddar, but FFS not Catherdral city, go to a Cheese shop and buy a good one.

Personally I would avoid cheese with the first glass and actually taste the wine, and then see how it goes sip by sip with a few decent cheeses to a find a suitable partner.

I would also open it a while before its time to drink it, all wone needs some breathing time and I would expect something that old might not be at its best as soon as its openened.

Have a bottle of ordinary Chardonnay or Sav Blanc handy in case its either corked or horrid !

**** not had any Reblochon for ages (or the taxmans thief as it used to be called)

Be prepared to decant, have some thing of a decent construction, the presentation of wine in a beautiful crystal decanter adds to the ambience.

As advised appreciate the first glass, before adding accoutrements.
