Default Trading job in the city

Hi,

I don't know if this is a good place to ask or not, but I know some of you work in the City.

Currently I work for myself trading futures on the US market for my own account. I work from home, but I'm starting to go a bit crazy, not having any human contact, and only working in the afternoon and evening (time difference). So I've been thinking about looking for a job doing the same thing. However, whenever I've looked into it they all seem to want graduates which I am not. Also, I don't really know where to start looking or which firms to approach.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I beleive you can still work for yourself in the city - You can effectively "rent" desk space and a terminal etc. I dont profess to know much about it though.

Graduates? Half of them are East End barrow boys.

Yeah you can rent desk space, speak to the Kyte Group or Marex, amongst others.

Very few barrow boys left in the business....times have changed.

Also check out the Liffe website, they have a list of all clearers.

Or come and trade from my office in Gibraltar and stop paying tax!

I'd rather pay tax and have the streets cleaned.

Need to start at the bottom and work your way up internally and then jump up the ladder. As a starter you will not get an interview without a degree with the big guns and the smaller ones are either word of mouth or a proven track record.

Good Luck

I think I will have to disagree with the last few comments about graduates, I have been working in the city for around 2 years now for 2 large investment banks but in I.T and I have tried to get into trading but its so hard they want people with experience or most of the time its who you know.. And I graduated 2 years ago with a computer science degree.
