If McLaren had any ***** he wouldn't be England manager and still manager of a 2nd/3rd rate Premier League side.

Another yes man who will do nothing.

To be fair to Robinson, the amount of back passes he had to deal with tonight (mainly from Rio) he was bound to miss one of them.

So he went with 3-5-2 and still didn't put a start with a proper right winger

I'm starting to think Big Sam would have done a better job At least he'd have had the bottle to drop some of the overpaid under-achievers such as Lampard, Ferdinand, Rooney and, it pains me to say it, Gerrard

feel sorry for him. Some of his other saves were outstanding and was perhaps Englands best player.

The more you see of the incident the more you agree it wasn't Robinsons fault but it leaves England open to yet more ridicule.

I think you'll find it's more likely to be connected to the fact that England internationals no longer have 'protected' status from satellite only broadcast

Although tbh even if it was on terrestrial I wouldn't have watch it anyway

So who would you have played? remember we're not just talking about a winger, we're talking about a Wing Back. With our injury hit list there isnt many options. Saying that though it was obvious Neville wasnt going to provide much threat on the right on his own.

Gerrard didnt play OK he was injured and not dropped but we didnt get much of a performance from many of the lads today, so lets drop Gerrard and Lampard, its easy to say it now cause the games finished but Carrick didnt do much, fill this 5 man midfield in for me then.

I wouldn't have played that formation full stop. I'd have played a properenglish 4-4-2, with a left footed player on the left wing and a right footed player on the right wing, both of whom need to stay on their respective wings and overlap with the full backs, it's not too difficult.

As for Gerrard, in my opinion it is his inability to do the job he's given that is one of the causes of Liverpool's troubles away from home this season, and he was definitely culpable (along with Garcia) in our finishing hanging on at 3-2 against Galatasaray
The highlights don't show it all, for every one of his shots on goal that get's shown on Match of the Day, there are another four or five occasions where his wanderings into the middle (or even over to the left, getting under Riise's & Gonzalez' feet) have left Finnan exposed that don't get shown

See you never said that, you only critisized his coice in winger rather than choice in formation, hence my post.

Actually, I believe I criticised his choice to play a both a five man midfield and his choice to not use a right winger

Quick hijack question. Do you footie gurus think that a leading Premiership Club e.g. Chelsea, MU, Arsenal would beat the England National Team? Game to be at club's home ground and they would be able to play any of their own England squad players if required. Has such a match been played? dl

Actually I believe you intended to criticise his formation but you didnt if you read back

And yes I believe the club will beat the national side, pick any of the top few clubs and they'd walk it IMO.
