It may work mate. I had a pay as you go phone with Virgin. My daughter gave me her old phone which was a T mobile and fitted the sim card from my old phone and it worked. Geoff.

if its Nokia DO NOT pay to get it un-locked, there are LOTS of websites that Google can give you answers to for free un-locking.

I'd check that the phone can be un-locked before you buy though, just in case

Virgin SIMs work in one2one/T-Mobile phones because Virgin is a virtual network on T-Mobiles network.

Tesco use the same network as T-mobile and virgin.
As mentioned, if its a nokia, unlocking codes are easily available for free on the net. IIRC, Tesco offer you an unlock code after you have purchased a certain amount of airtime. Not sure if thats for nokias only though. call them.

Thanks for the advice, bought a Sony Ericsson W300i for less than £100 in Tesco and to be frank it seems an excellent phone, software you get to move music/pictures/phonebook from laptop to phone and back again is spot on, free speakers for playing the MP3 tracks are good, radio is good and very easy to use. Overall a bargain.

The vodafone sim doesn't work but plans are a foot, I am sure we will sort something out.

Right, quick update.
The phone is unable to be unlocked as it is 'too new' according to Sony Ericsson (wtf??) !!. Need to wait at least four weeks before being able to unlock it.

Thats crazy. SE are the ones that develop the sim locks for their phones. Surely they don't have to find a way to unlock phones they locked?!?

Does that mean you've done it, or are you assuming it will be?
