I had this lad walk out over a year ago
tried to find the old thread but the search only seams to go back 4 pages for some reason
anyway, this lad has a dispute with another member of staff, the 2 of them are mates, they were here before i arrived, known each other since kids, so i let them get on with it, this is over a year ago now, i can see that this boy is going to leave, i sit him down and talk to him and tell him if he wants to leave, then please give me a bit of notice and do the right thing, he agrees, anyway few days later he left while i nipped out for 10 mins, through his boots on the roof and left, leaving me in the lurch for the following day.
anyway i heard nothing from him for a few months, then he rang me up asking if i would write him a "mint reference"
of which i declined.
10 mins ago he rang me up asking for his job back, over 1 year after he walked out
i can not believe it

lol I remember that thread. I would have said yes sure come round, wait til he gets there, tell him his boots are still on the roof (soak them in the bath all weekend and chuck them back on the roof) and to fetch them, when he gets down and puts his boots on nick his trainers and tell him to walk home in his wet boots

I had to let one of my guys go because he dropped one of the other lads, one punch out of the blue, bam lights out, all on film, case closed.
He sends the odd funny e-mail and along with the attachment he keeps asking if the lad is still there and can I hurry up and get rid so he can have his old job back PMSL

This lad of mine ended up ******** his mates/ex mates bird (same mate who worked for me and had the dispute with) just to **** him off.
the whole story went on for months about who was going to kill who first
I am 99% sure this lad was dipping into the till, and i have been told since when i was not there, he had his other mate (who i sacked 2 weeks after i took over but would never "visit" when i was around) were smoking "buckets" round the side of the building and getting stoned which looking back, i should have spotted and done something about
well he is somebody elses problem now, i told him my mate 10 miles away needs workers and gave him the number PMSL
will no doubt get a phone call from my mate tomorrow

are the piccys of his boots? if so i,d say thats criminal damage to his property!
If he walked out, how come he owes you a days pay? did you not pay him his
final salary / wages along with his p45, his wages should have been adjusted then.
give him a job, and then sack for gross miconduct, (no dss for 6 months then)
Mart
