I stayed in a B&B in the Peak District run by an ex Blue Peter presenter and his wife. Great homemade blackberry jam at breakfast. Can't remember the name of the place for the life of me though

OK the guilt got to me, so I googled. It was called The Manor Farmhouse and it was near Matlock. The guy's name is Simon Groom.

I'm afraid they didn't have an aging Blue Peter presenter on offer, but it was still nice.
We tried to book again recently, but they don't take children under 12 which rules us out now, but it's probably a bonus if you don't have kids.

Matlock/Dethic Ashbourne/Dove Dale arent in the 'Peak District'; theyre in West Derbyshire (now called the Derbyshire Dales in an attempt to fleece more tourists to spend money in the tea shops ownded by the blue haired self-interested local councillors). In my opinion MatlocK-Ashbourne-Bakewell is a lot nice than the 'Peak District', which is quite barren, open and (at this time of year, becoming) f*cking cold!

'The Red House Country (f*cking country house hotel? who are they kidding?) Hotel' used to be my friends grandmothers house; and the Red House Carriage Museum is little more than a run down stable yard next to it. Im cynical but the ****e that they spin beggars belief!

They are entitled to their opinion Chip; but I know better. It isnt a country house hotel and Red House Stables (although its no longer owned by the peopel who owned the stables and the house in question) was exactly as described: a run-down stables.
